PROBLEM SIGN · CHARLOTTE, NC

Frequent Sewer Backups and why they keep coming back.

Frequent sewer backups are not a drain problem: they are a structural problem. If your line backs up within weeks of being snaked, the root cause is still inside the pipe. LiningWorks finds it with a sewer camera and addresses the structural cause so the backups stop coming back.

Why Charlotte homeowners call LiningWorks to end Frequent Sewer Backups.

We stop frequent sewer backups by addressing the structural cause, not just clearing the line.

We put a sewer camera down the line before quoting anything. You see the root mass, belly, or crack that is causing your backups on screen.

Frequent Sewer Backups fixed by a licensed plumber

NC Plumbing License #16952. A real licensed technician (not a dispatcher) diagnoses every frequent backup call.

A partially blocked residential sewer pipe, the kind of buildup that drives frequent sewer backups.

WARNING SIGNS

Warning Signs of Frequent Sewer Backups

Frequent sewer backups are your main line telling you it is failing. Four patterns that often show up first.

  • Backups returning within 2 to 3 weeks of snaking
If snaking clears the drain but the backup is back within a month, the structural cause (roots, belly, scale) was not removed. It is still there.
  • Sewage backing up into a tub when the toilet is flushed
Sewage appearing in the tub when you flush the toilet means the main line is blocked downstream of both fixtures. This means the main line is blocked downstream and needs prompt attention.
  • Multiple fixtures draining slowly at the same time
Frequent backups affecting the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry simultaneously point to a main-line blockage, not a single-fixture clog.
  • Any raw sewage reaching a floor drain or toilet rim
Raw sewage coming up through a floor drain means the main line is blocked or failing. Stop using water and call 336-477-3218 to schedule a diagnosis.

COMMON CAUSES

The most common causes of Frequent Sewer Backups in Charlotte homes.

Across many frequent backup calls, we see the same four root causes again and again.

Tree roots causing Frequent Sewer Backups

Root masses grow in clay-tile and cast-iron joints over years. Snaking cuts through them temporarily, but they regrow within weeks, driving repeat backups.

A pipe belly causing Frequent Sewer Backups

A sagged section traps waste at the low point. Every flush adds more debris to the trap. Frequent backups are the result until the belly is addressed.

Scale buildup causing Frequent Sewer Backups in older cast iron

Decades of rust and scale narrow the pipe until it blocks easily. Snaking punches through the scale, but it rebuilds, causing frequent backups every few months.

Partial pipe collapse causing Frequent Sewer Backups

A section that has partially collapsed restricts the pipe to a fraction of its diameter. Every flush is a potential frequent backup until the section is replaced.

Before and after: the corroded cast iron line behind repeated backups, beside the new pipe that replaced it.

BEFORE & AFTER

Frequent Sewer Backups stopped: a Dilworth case.

The homeowners had called three different plumbers in 18 months. Each time, the drain was snaked and the backup returned within weeks. Our camera found a root mass at a clay-tile joint that had not been fully cleared in any of the previous visits. We hydro-jetted, lined the joint, and the backups have not returned.

Most frequent backup cases in Charlotte come down to one structural defect that every previous snake missed. The camera finds it in the first visit.

We had a plumbing emergency around the holiday's and called a local plumbing company. They cleared the line and quoted a pretty high price to dig up my yard and fix the damaged sewer line. The next day I found LiningWorks online and called Jeremiah. He was very helpful and confident they could fix my sewer line without digging. Seemed too good to be true. The lining has been installed, yard not damaged and looks to have resolved the break. Jeremiah even offered to come back and scope it at a later time to ensure it's all good. Highly recommend Lining Works for any situation where you can't or don't want to dig. Thanks guys!

LiningWorks was top notch. We had a sewer main that got damaged and was completely blocked up. They were able to clear the drain, remove all issues, and reline the entire sewer main without cutting out my driveway and yard. And they were able to get the job done in one day. I would and plan to do business these guys again in the future and would highly recommend them to others.

Where do I begin? Let's just say I had an absolute nightmare on my hands for about 5 years with my sewage. I had one company quote me 7k after he snaked my sewage line and from there I just kept snaking it every year. I dreaded the oncoming financial disaster but I bit the bullet and called LiningWorks. BEST home decision of 5 years. Jeremiah came out and tackled this chaos with grace and integrity. He got down to the root of it: after years of money, anxiety, and frustration he found out it was a city problem! I will definitely be calling LiningWorks when my lining needs replacing. Call them now, you will not be disappointed.

I received an estimate and the job did exceed the original estimate. I contacted them about it and they were very understanding and explained why.

Lining Works was excellent to work with. They were perfectly professional. They were organized, efficient, and friendly throughout the whole process. They took time to answer all of our questions. Pipe lining is an incredible option and the team at Lining Works couldn't have been better. They were also transparent, honest, and consistent with their cost/pricing. We couldn't be happier. We feel very fortunate that we found Lining Works. Great guys!

The main drain line in our airbnb kept clogging up, filling the house with an awful sewage smell. We had drain cleaners come out to clear the line every couple months but it finally got so bad we had to close off our bookings. LiningWorks were very prompt in coming out. We discovered tree roots had broken up our line. Our sewage line runs under a tree and 6ft deep through our crawlspace so digging it up was going to be a nightmare. Liningworks was able to cut the tree roots out and line the pipe without any digging so that it's as good as new. Would definitely recommend them to anyone needing sewage line repair.
